Maria Celia Laborde from Cuba won a bronze medal at the World Championships in Chelyabinsk in 2014 U48kg. She won the Apn Am Championships in the same year and is multiple Champion of Cuba. She won bronze at the Grand Slam of Paris in 2013. Later she became a judoka representing the United States. She claimed a bronze medal at the Pan American Oceania Championships in Lima in 2022. She took the victory at the Panam Open in Santo Domingo in 2022. She won gold at the Oceania Open in Perth in 2022.
