Rosalba Forciniti rediscovers the pleasure in judo training
Rosalba Forciniti rediscovered the fun of judo. The Italian Olympic bronze medallist of the 2012 Olympic Games in London gave birth to a baby in 2014 in the previous Olympic cycle. Meanwhile she made her comeback at the tatami. Likely not to start as an active judoka, but to find the joy of training together, give instructions to young judoka and to feel free.
At the Training stage in Laghi near Rome where lots of young judoka where gathered. Forciniti had been doing three days of really full internships. “It was full of a lot of emotion, among children who jump around me, and my fingers that hurt and my knees are not stable. But most of all I wanted to say thanks to the organisers for giving me the opportunity to become part of their family the Banzai Cortina. Finally free from any obligation I can start fighting again!”
After Forciniti won an unexpected Olympic Games bronze medal, her life changed for a while as she became a celebrity in Italy. With the Italian team she won European gold in 2010 and took an individual silver medal. In 2013 she made her comeback after the Olympic Games and won the European Open in Rome. She was multiple Italian Champion in all age categories and always fought in her category U52kg.
The Training Stage in Laghi was led by Italian coaches and former British Olympian Winston Gordon was guest coach. The stage was also attended by Odette Giuffrida, the Olympic silver medallist in 2016 U52kg and successor of Forciniti.
