Latvian judo booked most of the main successes because of Vsevolods Zelonijs who won Olympic bronze in Sydney 2000. Vsevolods Zelonijs won bronze at the World Championships in 1997 and he was in three European finals. Zelonijs became General Secretary of the Latvian Judo Federation. Jevgenijs Borodavko is another good Latvian judoka who won three European Championships medals. Glebs Talalujevs won the European Cadet title for Latvia in 2011. In 2016 Latvian judo celebrated the European Cadet title of Artjoms Galaktionovs.
