Japanese judoka Mao Arai became the junior world champion in 2023 in Odivelas. She captured the gold medal at the Grand Slam in Tokyo in 2023. She claimed a gold medal at the Junior European Cup in Malaga in 2022. In 2022 she became Junior World Champion in Guayaquil. She claimed a silver medal at the Belgian Open in Herstal in 2023. Clinched bronze at the Asian Championships in Hong Kong in 2024. Gold at 2024 Grand Slam Tokyo.
