Igor Sampaio achieved notable success in judo, winning the Portuguese cadet title in 2006 and the junior title in 2010. He earned multiple medals at Portuguese youth championships and was a silver medallist at the Cadet A-Tournament U17 in Coimbra in 2006. Transitioning to coaching, he has become a mentor for his sister, Patricia Sampaio, and currently serves as a coach at the Sociedade Filarmónica Gualdim Pais club in Tomar.
