Former European CHampion Amel Mekic of Bosnia and Herzegovina decided to finish his sports career. Mayor factor for the 32-year old judoka was lot of injuries and eight surgery's that he had.

"This is my biggest and hardest decision in my life, which resulted by two reasons. First one is the eight surgery's that I've had and second one is transition from sports career to science. I would like as a coach and teacher give my knowledge to younger generations." - Mekic said.

Mekic proved on the mat that he was big judoka as he was European Champion, three time Olympian, fifth at the World Championships, but that just wasn't enought for him. He was selected by the BIH National Olympic Committee to receive monthly scholarship until Rio 2016 Olympic Games which he refused to take and gave it to development of younger generations.
