Grand Prix Tashkent welcomes 2020 generation

The Grand Prix of Tashkent will show us the new generation aiming for qualification for Tokyo in 2020, although that’s far away. The World Championships in Budapest or European Championships in Warsaw next year are more realistic targets.
Gaining points for a good seeing in the future will be an aim for the average judoka. Not the top athletes will attend in Uzbekistan, but in the region that took impressive medals at the Olympic Games, the average judoka is still good enough for spectacular judo. Last year Japan won four gold medals, Korea three and Mirali Sharipov won gold for the host nation.
Some of the most decorated athletes are present though in Tashkent such as Abdullo Tangriev, Ilgar Mushkiyev, who celebrates his birthday today, Srdjan Mrvaljevic and in the women’s division Abigel Joo who won the Grand Prix of Zagreb last month, Marijana Miskovic or Petra Nareks another collector of world medals. Whether they all make it to Tokyo is doubtful, but they will for sure battle for the medals starting at 6 October.
