European judo seniors Championships to Bucharest

Due to the instable political situation in the region of Kosovo and the events happened on 11th of March 2004 in Madrid the Directing Committee of the European Judo Union has decided to change the location of the European Judo Championships 2004 from Belgrade in Serbia and Montenegro to Bucharest in Romania.
Marius Vizer, preseident of the EJu said: "I really hope that the Judo Federation of Serbia and Montenegro and all members of the European Judo Union will understand this decision, because we are in the year of the Olympic Games and we cannot afford to compromise the European Championships or to risk the safety of the participants."
In 2001 Belgrado would also organize the European Championships, but because of the war Paris organised that EChs. As compensation Belgrade got the tournament organisation in 2004.
In 1981 the Europeans didn't even start because of war.
