Three World Champions are now the new world number one in the IJF World Ranking. Four world champions already led their weight category and are now even more superior. New at number one is Mongolian World Champion Tsogtbaatar Tsend-Ochir. In a competitive weight category it’s an absolute sensation to see him as first ranked. Less of a surprise is to see Tato Grigalashvili at number one. Some time ago he took over that leading position from Matthias Casse, this year’s runner up. Also Uzbek Davlat Bobonov was already leading and seeded as number one in Tashkent, and deliver to the home crowd. He continuous to be the world number one in the ranking.

Natsumi Tsunoda is new as number one as she passed Shirine Boukli who lost valuable points in the world ranking. In practice we will probably see Boukli more often in the IJF World Tour than Tsunoda. Well, one thing is for sure, Barbara Matic is the world number one in U70kg for quite some time. Only Sanne van Dijke can get a bit closer but the rest is a safe distance. For now she will celebrate her second world title for a while. She’s already been to the presidential office this week.

Another experienced sensation this week was Mayra Aguiar who is gonna be the new World ranking leader U78kg. Obviously not for the first time. She led the world ranking for the first time in 2012, more than a decade ago and is back at her throne.

Romane Dicko was yet the number one seed and didn’t disappoint and offered her country the only French world title, but the French streak since 2005 is unbroken.

Seven athletes are still leading their categories but are not world champion but achieved to get enough points to hold their leading position.
