Judoka Robbert van der Geest finished with a silver medal at the Scandinavian Open in 1982. He is cousin of Dennis and Elco van der Geest and himself founder of the Judo Magazine in the Netherlands. He worked as a Judo-teacher for almost 25 years at Kenamju judoclub in Haarlem, Netherlands. Kenamju is the club of many Dutch and international champions and is considered one of the strongest judoclubs in Europe. Transformed as organiser of the European Cupfights of Kenamju regular judochampionship into events that at their peak drew more than 2000 spectators.
