Hungarian judoka Eva Gergely participated at World Championships where she fought RyokoTani Amarilis Savon. She won a silver medal at the Swiss International in Basel U48kg in 1994. Gergely was Hungarian champion in 1994-1995. She used to be married under the name of Kiss Józsefné, now Évi Várkövi.
