Geronay Whitebooi, a South African judoka, made history by clinching judo gold at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham in August 2022, becoming the second South African athlete to achieve this feat. her successes include African Open titles and a fifth-place finish at the 2022 Grand Slam Tokyo. Geronay, a University of Pretoria graduate, draws inspiration from her mother and athlete Caster Semenya, highlighting her aspirations and commitment to success both on and off the mat. Seized bronze at 2024 African Open in Abidjan.
